Thank you for your interest in joining us at the first annual FEA Alumni Conference! The Conference unites FEA’s diverse group of alumni scholars for a day in Washington, D.C. and provides career development opportunities through sessions led by FEA alumni and supporters. The event is organized BY alumni, FOR alumni. Participants will also be invited to join the annual FEA Gala the same evening. 

Registration Deadline: October 15 
Conference Date: November 15 from 8am to 12pm 
FEA Gala (Optional): November 15 at 6pm 
Location: Washington, DC 

Travel Grants: FEA is happy to provide travel grants to alumni who would otherwise be unable to travel to Washington, DC to attend the Conference. Grants may cover part or all of a roundtrip ticket from the alumni's home city and accommodation in DC. Applications for financial support will be viewed on a rolling basis, and can be submitted via this form.

Welcoming Remarks

Keynote Address: Featured remarks to FEA alumni and supporters. This session is meant to introduce the discuss the importance of study abroad and how such experiences can be translated into positive progress on one’s personal and professional lives. The keynote speaker is asked to draw from their personal experience to engage with and inspire FEA alumni to live more aware and globalized lives.

Breakout Session I: Women Abroad -Stories from International Professionals: This panel will feature three or four women discussing career paths, how women can bring valued perspectives to international work, and their personal experience with study abroad (if applicable). The panel has been widely requested by FEA alums, and we hope it will help elevate the status of women in international fields and inspire our young alumni.

Breakout Session II: Resume and Interviewing Workshop: This session will help FEA alums highlight their study abroad experience in job interviews and resumes. The facilitator is asked to open the session with general tips and then give an opportunity for alumni to workshop their resumes or elevator pitches individually or in small groups.

Breakout Session III: Alumni Voices: International Fellowships and Careers: This session will feature three or four FEA Alumni who have gone on to participate in international programs either in their education or career. Panelists will give a brief overview of their programs and discuss how their FEA experiences influenced these experiences. The audience will be given an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session. 

Breakout Session IV: Study Abroad: Then and Now: This interactive session will provide an opportunity for FEA Alumni and Supporters to become better acquainted though short “speed-networking” activities. Activities will mix the group based on shared interests, study abroad location, and other common characteristics to build connections. The goal is to introduce scholars with Board of Director members and other FEA supporters, and to share study abroad stories.

The Lasting Impact of Study Abroad: High-Level Panel: This panel will feature three C-suite executives representing the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Panelists are asked to discuss how study abroad and/or international education has shaped their career path, best practices for entering and thriving in international careers, and offer pieces of advice to young professionals. The FEA Council hopes the panelists will be able to lend advice to FEA’s young professionals and inspire them to translate their study abroad experiences into concrete career steps.
